Metro Spirit has reviewed our upcoming record – check out the complete review or read an excerpt below:

“Recorded in a paradox of a country setting with modern technology and wrought from their emotional turmoil, which is very evident on this record, the Boston-based three piece fills all eleven tracks on “Knowledge Machine” with a ton of raw feeling. This is what makes this record so marvelous and stand-alone.

Having worked with famed Radiohead producer Matthew Ellard, Static of the Gods have obviously taken something from that experience, and while female-fronted the band speak to fans of the more electronic-infused indie-emo genre of music, bringing to mind everything from Portishead to Postal Service. Yet they have their own sound very unique to them….With a combination of haunting vocals, personal yet relevant lyrics, and a moody indie-electronic sound, Static of the Gods create a vision of the soul with “Knowledge Machine” that anyone can relate to and feel touch their lives. And while a ‘knowledge machine’ is actually a computer, it is also very much the human mind that composed these powerful songs.”

We’ve gotten some great early reviews of Knowledge Machine to share.

From Ryan’s Smashing Life, a lovely description of the songs on Knowledge Machine that we adore:

“songs like honey dripped before razor blades”

Click above to read the whole post and listen to “Rest Your Head”; it’s the first and only place you can get a song from the album right now.

Meanwhile, Jersey Beat says:

“Right from the sweetly hypnotic opening song “Rest Your Head,” this supremely tuneful and captivating electro-pop album casts a soothing and enchanting spell. The vocals are mellow and pleasant while the melodic arrangements keep the steady tempos and constant beats smoothly rolling along at an alternately gradual or snappy rate with often absorbing and occasionally quite exciting results. Moreover, the songwriting is mature, reflective, and intelligent. Favorite track; the remarkably moving and touching “Mean Streak.” A lovely little jewel.”

the last two days of recording! listening to mixes, everything’s sounding great. figuring out any last pieces.

No Shave November has offically started, don’t worry there will be updates.

bv.

we’ve entered the home stretch now. our new record, Knowledge Machine gets sent off for duplication in twenty days. spending this week finishing up the last little bits of recording, finishing up mixing and mastering. stressed out beards are on and already in full. no shaving until November 17… see you then.

well, we’re in a very interesting position/time right now. all 17 songs we started recording at Hounds Hollow in April (it seems so long ago…) have taken shape into full-fledged songs. final mixes are being listened to everyday, tweaking something here or there. but for the most part, we all can really hear where each song is going. everything’s sounding great, we are all really proud of these songs, now’s the tough part…

it’s time to pick what songs get to go on the record. we need to pick 10 or 11 songs to move forward with. this is a tough, tough task; considering we started off recording 17 songs. last night we brought it down to 14 songs, which is a step in the right direction.

a lot goes into which 10 or 11 songs make it onto the record. it’s not just which songs are our favorites, each song has to really help make the album the best album we can make. cohesiveness is important, among other things.

i guess you could say we’re in the home stretch now. more time on our hands means more time to post. i know i’ve said it before, but this time i really mean it ;)

xoxo.

We are totally thrilled to be opening for the amazing Dangerbird Records bands Bad Veins and Division Day on the Boston stop of their tour.  The show will be at O’Brien’s in Allston, and we HIGHLY recommend getting tix now before they sell out.  This is a great opportunity to see these bands in a small venue.  And of course, yours truly!
