So yesterday was one of those days where everything seems to be a little off … for some reason nothing felt right.

It wasn’t all for naught though, as we did manage wrap up bass on “Ghosts”, which is coming along nicely. That is however when things took a turn for the worst. We had the silly idea to try to record some guitars, but nothing we did sounded right.

The AC30 just wasn’t cooperating. It sounded tinny, didn’t have any bottom end, and was breaking up all kinds of funny. We have a suspicion that it might be one or some of the tubes which need replacing, so we might try that next.

On the other hand, it could have just been “one of those days” where things just don’t sound right. I swear there are little gremlins who swarm in and screw things up when you’re not looking. It wouldn’t be the first time.

I started to comp some bass tracks from Hounds Hollow. We recorded a ton of stuff and now we have to pull out the best sounding tracks in the light of day. Listening back to the drum tracks, I’m really happy with how they sound. I’ll post some samples shorty, but honestly they’re better them I expected. To help feel the creative juices, i’m enjoying a CBC Amber Ale and some fritters from Highland Kitchen. Hmm, hmm good.

bass & jaguar parts are done for 65% of the potential songs for this record. yay! on to guitars. endless combinations of pedals and effects, finding the right combination can be daunting, but when you find the perfect mix… ahhhhhh.

drums are done, hurray!

now that we’ve got the right set up for bass sounds, ben is starting in on ‘elemental’ and i am perusing the hounds hollow library. many interesting books on all kinds of topics – we have trail books, classics by hemingway, sinclair, & fitzgerald, and a few other little gems like this one:

apparently ms. landers is under the mistaken impression that a modern girl like myself would like to know “what to do with my spare time, how to make myself as attractive as possible, happier & more popular.” on top of all that, “how to fix my hair, make curtains, & hints on dancing”. hmmmm…

(not sure if he is an egomaniacal loon yet; it’s still a possibility. i’d like to believe his change of heart, but he still has some journalistic ethics issues that remain unresolved even as he apologizes for them)
