c is for crunk
good morning everyone. we're in the van, in the middle of ohio, on our way back to boston.

observation of the day #1:
40 miles outside of columbus ohio, gas station attendant. early 20's, bad dye job, visibly super pregnant, belly sticking out from under lime green t shirt that read "c is for crunk." i'm not judging, just pointing out what i see.

thank you, thank you, thank you to the bands we played with, everyone who came out to the shows, everyone who gave us a place to stay. we all really appreciate it.

we're pulling together all the photos and videos we've shot during this tour. there are a few surprises in store, so stay tuned.

Van Playlist:

- Silversun Pickups: Carnavas
- Sheila Divine: The New Parade
- NPR: whatever we can find.

Currently Watching:

-Breaking Bad (seriously, start watching it. great show.)

The Golden West
we've been enjoying a little two day break in sunny northern california - catching up on rest at my parent's house. it's such a pleasure to sit outside with a good book and a glass of wine and soak up some sun - especially after some long cold drives through idaho and wyoming on our way to portland. it's nice to rest, but one thing i think we all have in common is a deep-seated restlessness; a desire to keep moving, keep playing, keep collecting new experiences. it's always a little sad in the van when we're on the last leg of a tour, a collective sense of ennui or something even though of course we're happy to get back to friends in Boston.

so the batteries are recharged and we're super excited for our next two shows: Los Angeles at the Silverlake Lounge tonight, and San Diego at the Beauty Bar tomorrow night.

Hey guys, sorry for the lack of updates the last couple days. internet has been spotty.

We're entering the home stretch of this tour. part of me always gets a little sad when tours are closing out, even though it's nice to go home and see friends and loved ones. this has definitely been the most successful tour for Static of the Gods so far.

Last night, Curiosity Group threw a west coast video release party for us at the awesome Portland bar, Ron Tom's. If you're in Portland, i highly suggest you stop in and have a drink.

We're getting ready for our show tonight, at Towne Lounge. should be a good time.

ben.

PS. we stopped for lunch at a brewery/pub in Salt Lake City where 'Polygamy Porter' was on tap. very fitting for the city we were in....

30 mph
touring is a learning progress. Note to self: next winter, tour the southern states only. Driving through Wyoming on the way to Salt Lake City has been the worst driving conditions any of us have ever seen. The entire highway is a sheet of ice coupled with 45+ mph winds and gusts of snow that reduce visibility to 200 feet. For about 4 hours of the trip from Denver to Salt Lake City, we’ve had to drive 30mph on a 75 mph speed limit road.

Van Playlist:

- Jimmy Eat World: Chase This Light
- Radiohead: The Bends
- Blink 182: Blink 182
- Silversun Pickups: Carnavas
- Mogwai: Mr. Beast
- TV on the Radio: Return to Cookie Mountain

Mile High
So our trek into Denver was a bit arduous, we got stuck in an ice & snow storm and had to take a detour. At times the drive seemed to border on unreality, just hours & hours of coasting through a dense whiteout, not able to see where we were or where we were going. But somehow we made our load-in time to make a benefit show for the wonderful John Baxter at the Old Curtis Street Saloon.

Everyone was so welcoming and enthusiastic about our new songs, it made the tension from our drive totally disappear and we had an awesome time. Much love to Denver, we will definitely be back!

Van Playlist:
Interpol, Our Love to Admire
Longwave, The Strangest Things
Interpol, Turn on the Bright Lights
Lots of country music on the radio
