We've gotten some great early reviews of Knowledge Machine to share. From Ryan's Smashing Life, a lovely description of the songs on Knowledge Machine that we adore: "songs like honey dripped before razor blades" Click above to read the whole post and listen to "Rest Your Head"; it's the first and only place you can get a song ...

Want to hear 3 never-before-heard songs from our new record?  Then you  have to get yourself to the Middle East Upstairs on Friday, November 13th.  We'll be playing our last show of the 2009 with some great bands, and giving the first 50 lucky people 3 songs from Knowledge Machine. Buy Tix Right Now: http://tinyurl.com/nov13buytix The Motion Sick, Static ...

We are totally thrilled to be opening for the amazing Dangerbird Records bands Bad Veins and Division Day on the Boston stop of their tour.  The show will be at O'Brien's in Allston, and we HIGHLY recommend getting tix now before they sell out.  This is a great opportunity to see these bands in a small ...

That pretty much summed up our week, AND it is the tagline for the very awesome TeaPartyBoston.  You should go visit their site immediately for some great photography, news about town and articles like "How to Deal with Tofailure, And Other Life Lessons."  We had the pleasure of talking with two of the lovely ladies ...

In case you missed it last week, there's a sneak peek track from Knowledge Machine available over at Ryan's Smashing Life - download away!!

Sooo.....how is it that I missed this phenom?!?!   Three wolves are better than one, that's for sure.  And the wolf is the Static of the Gods power animal when we're on the road.  In fact we have three ceramic wolves that we bought in New Mexico glued to the dashboard of Big Blue to keep ...

As you might know, for some reason I really love wearing a dress when we play.  Not sure if it comes from childhood when wearing anything besides jeans meant it was a special occassion - actually, come to think of it, I'm still kind of like that!  So here's my great new handmade dress that ...

phase one of the new record is complete.   we had 30+ new songs which we narrowed down to 17 for recording. once everything's done, we'll choose which ones are going to make it to the record.  i'm sure there will be lots of discussions about which songs make it to the final.  but it's a ...

The whole crew is taking some much needed rest - for ears, fingers, & psyches. This morning brought a totally gorgeous mountain day after a gloomy yesterday. Lots of hiking and a trip to Harpoon Brewery before more guitar work tonight.

While Ben and Mike toiled away getting more bass and jaguar parts finished, Loki & i went to investigate Quechee dam. The dam is on the Ottauquechee River, and holds back the waters of Dewey's Mill Pond before they flow over the 30-foot Mill Pond Falls and through Quechee Gorge.  Apparently this is called Vermont's "Little ...

This morning brings the appearance of 'recording day eight mike',  rocking the modified 'colonel sanders mel' facial hair this morning....just a little extra something to get through the crazy-making process of recording.  but luckily mike is not a raging misogynist, racist maniac like the colonel. Meanwhile, we've got another juicy tidbit from 'The Modern Handbook for ...

Mike and ben are allowed out of the cage for a brief respite and pitchers of harpoon ipa.

drums are done, hurray! now that we've got the right set up for bass sounds, ben is starting in on 'elemental' and i am perusing the hounds hollow library.  many interesting books on all kinds of topics - we have trail books, classics by hemingway, sinclair, & fitzgerald, and a few other little gems like this ...

field trip

mid morning fieldtrip to woodstock. the beagle doesn't like windy vermont roads. dog treats keep him happy... met a new friend along the way.

it's gorgeous outside - slightly cold and crisp, with lots of sun and a hazy sheen to the light.  we got an early start this a.m., and mike is starting to see the finish line for drum tracking in the distance. here are mike & ben are working on getting just the right cymbal sounds for ...

while mike was knocking out drum tracks for another three songs, i took loki to forage for food at a local market and stopped by a lovely art installation called 'the path of life' next to the harpoon brewery.  no one was around, so we had the whole place to ourselves.  it's pretty cool and ...

the flakes are coming down ever so softly outside now.  after being in the heat of texas and california, it's hard to get m body around the fact that yes, it is still on the edge of winter here.  while on my morning walk with loki, we came across some bones by a little creek.  ...

After a quick meander around the neighborhood with Loki, we'll be climbing into the new-&-improved completely rebuilt Blue - a chevy express with an attitude.  Instead of putting another 17,000 miles on old Blue like we did in 2008 alone, our trek is a mere 145 miles to Vermont.  This is the place where SOTG ...
