winter has been a mean, cold-hearted bitch this year, but spring will be here soon! we'll be heading out for a handful of dates surrounding the March 23 release date of Knowledge Machine, which all lead up to our Boston record release show! super great lineup, it's gonna be a very special night indeed...
the last two days of recording! listening to mixes, everything's sounding great. figuring out any last pieces. No Shave November has offically started, don't worry there will be updates. bv.
we've entered the home stretch now. our new record, Knowledge Machine gets sent off for duplication in twenty days. spending this week finishing up the last little bits of recording, finishing up mixing and mastering. stressed out beards are on and already in full. no shaving until November 17... see you then.
well, we’re in a very interesting position/time right now. all 17 songs we started recording at Hounds Hollow in April (it seems so long ago…) have taken shape into full-fledged songs. final mixes are being listened to everyday, tweaking something here or there. but for the most part, we all can really hear where each ...
we're hard at work, finishing up the last little bit of recording. mike's mixing everything right now, things are sounding great so far. I'm working on editing some recently shot film, I hope to have some videos up for you soon. sorry, not very interesting... in other news, i really, really, really can't wait to ...
i've been fighting what I thought was just a pulled back muscle for a few weeks now. but normal life, hauling gear, playing shows and whatnot have gotten the best of me. a good ol' thoracic strain coupled with a nice trapezius strain, I'm stuck laying down for days on end. after two emergency ...
we're getting a dear old friend back today!! more to come... (ssshhh, i heard a rough first mix of one song, "talk you down" for the new record... very pleased)
I apologize for not updating as much as we should. we're all working really hard trying to get these songs to sound the best we can, sometimes we forget to take pictures/video and post updates. I promise we'll be better about it going forward... we've had an interesting couple of weeks. some new gear, mixed with ...
so we're taking a small little break from recording to rehearse for this show on may 30. we've got some surprises in store for everyone...
got up early this morning to work on some guitar and bass parts. we've decided to focus on 3 to 4 song batches, get everything recorded for those songs then move to the next batch. I've almost got my parts done, a few more days of work. jen's gonna work on her parts the next ...
setting up the new website, testing iPhone posts at the moment...
bass & jaguar parts are done for 65% of the potential songs for this record. yay! on to guitars. endless combinations of pedals and effects, finding the right combination can be daunting, but when you find the perfect mix... ahhhhhh. jen's knocking out Fire Eater parts right now... the Diana+ camera will be loaded today, photos will ...
what works in a live setting doesn't always work for recording. we spent a good couple hours chasing down a loud hum in one of our amps last night. we've figured it out, so I've torn my pedalboard apart to make the most simple chain of pedals I can, nothing extra. this should work... on a ...
recording is an interesting animal. it sucks me in and sometimes i neglect to remember that there's a whole outside world which i've removed myself from, to go away and create. create something that others, in this outside world, will appreciate, understand and ultimately enjoy. so for that, i'm sorry. phone calls/emails/text messages/snail mail will ...
what does a beagle do all day while we're busy making a record? well, lots of sleeping, exploring, sniffing, eating, more sleeping... he also has to endure me putting various objects / articles of clothing on him (hey, there's some down time when recording. gotta have some fun too...)
day one of drum tracking has gone extremely well. we're all psyched with how the drums are sounding, mike's knocked three songs out today already. downtime in the woods means lots of reading and tea. I've made myself a little keyboard nook, a place to think about extra parts/layers to songs...
